Most of the morning was spent getting ready for the Heartland delegation’s arrival. The ladies even let me help out. All the bathrooms were completely cleaned. The floors were swept and then mopped several times. The dining room table and all the counters in the kitchen were cleaned off. The stove top and inside of the fridge were scrubbed. Dishes and laundry were washed. We made the beds in all the rooms. I helped to photocopy a couple things for them to take to the bank. It’s nice to know that I can help out a little bit, even if it’s not much.
By noon we were all hungry. We were supposed to have two people from the City Hall of Berlín coming for lunch. They hadn’t shown up by 1:00pm so Balmore called and we discovered they weren’t coming, though I’m not sure why. So we ate without them. This afternoon wasn’t especially noteworthy so I’ll skip ahead. The Heartland group arrived today around 6pm. There are three ladies and four men. One of the women is from Ankeny Presbyterian and is here because the celebration for the new church in Corozal happens on Sunday!! It should be very exciting. There was a brief welcome meeting with the team after dinner followed by devotionals and reflections of the day as well as thoughts about the week ahead. I think that’s it for today. It’s a short blog; probably my shortest ever. But it will be a busy week so I’ll more than make up for it in the days ahead.
