Interview with Mauricio Funes

A couple days ago someone from the US sent me this link. Lucia Newman interviewed the President of El Salvador, Mauricio Funes, on Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera is a satellite television network located in the country of Qatar. During the interview, which is on the English language channel, they discussed gangs, violence, drugs, poverty, power, Funes’ presidency, and other topics. It’s definitely worth a watch.

Very interesting interview. Not quite sure what I think about his plan for the program for young men. I am shocked every time I hear the percent of GDP from remittances. I thought he had an interesting attitude towards the US, saying that he should not ask for much help and the it is up to Salvadorans to contribute more to their government. It was also interesting to hear his take on the realities of government, not being able to do all that the campaign promised and the comparison to president Obama. Thanks for posting.
